In our desire to equip parents as they “train their children up in the way they should go,” we have created a blog series to communicate the lessons our kids will be learning each Sunday, family verses to memorize together, and resources to help you as the parent to disciple your children.
The word “disciple” means to intentionally impact the life of someone in the direction of being more like Jesus.
Disciples follow Jesus and help others follow Him too.
Every week faithful servants enter into the disciple-making process with Renew Kids.
There are now FOUR classes most Sundays:
- Nursery (birth-2yrs),
- Preschool (ages 3-4yrs),
- Primary (ages 5-7yrs), and
- Challenge (ages 8-10yrs)
*This week Challenge class will be joining the adults in the main Sunday gathering.
All of us begin the gathering together to sing, listen, and pray as a whole church family.
During this Christmas season we have been journeying together through the Advent Catechism as a church family, and encouraging our families to do this at home as well.
We finish the Advent Catechism with chapter 6: THE LONGING
The birth announcement of Jesus changed everything; history was interrupted.
As news spread of the birth of the Messiah, many traveled to worship the promised King.
Some 30 years later, before returning to be with the Father, Jesus fulfilled everything necessary for humanity’s rescue.
Jesus is with us, but now we long to be with Him in His glory.
In celebration, preparation, and humble anticipation, we wait.
Our curriculum for the Primary class comes from The Gospel Project for Kids and will immerse our kids in the gospel through every story, theological concept, and call to mission from Genesis to Revelation. Ultimately, the gospel message changes everything; heart transformation can only take place when our children experience the gospel. Through The Gospel Project for Kids, our kids will understand the Bible is not just a collection of stories, but one unified story—God’s story of redemption.
Unit Focus: Christmas
God sent His Son, Jesus, to earth to be born as a baby in humble surroundings. Jesus was no ordinary baby. He was the One who would save God’s people from their sin. Christmas is the time to celebrate God’s greatest gift of Jesus Christ.
Unit Key Passage:
“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures.”—1 John 4:9
Session Focus: Jesus was Born
Bible Passage: Luke 2:1-20
Main Point: Jesus was born as God promised.
Big Picture Question: Why was Jesus born? Jesus was born to rescue us from sin.
Christ Connection: Jesus was born! This was very good news! Jesus was not like other babies. Jesus is God’s Son. God sent Jesus to earth from heaven. Jesus came into the world to save people from their sins and to be their King.
The Challenge Class will be joining the adults in the main Sunday gathering this week.
