Pause, Rewind, Slow Forward

When Jesus says, “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden,” He’s talking about everyone. All of us are restless and weary from trying to prove ourselves, and to cope we’ve taken on burdens that end up harming us.

He offers us a better way, Himself, attached to us, as we share His yoke, pulling His burdens. If you’re worn out it is because you’ve made something or someone other than Jesus the main burden you carry. He says that if you are weary and burdened, then you haven’t really understood the greatness of what He offers you.

As we begin a New Year full of opportunities and challenges, let’s resolve to look up to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. He promises to carry us through it all, venturing side-by-side.

Scripture: Matthew 11:25-30

25 At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; 26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. 27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
