We’ve begun ADVENT, a special season of waiting and hope, centered on Christ.
After centuries of silence God began speaking again, this time through two special visitations by His messenger (angel) Gabriel. A surprise visit to a young Jewish teenager named Mary frightened her, but soon her fear was turned to joy and expectant hope.
Gabriel told her that she had found great favor with God and she would be blessed. She was going to give birth to a King; the child would be the anticipated Son of God. Neither she nor the nation nor the whole world would remain the same.

Advent Catechism, week 2:
Soon after, God sent the angel Gabriel to visit a young Jewish girl named Mary.
Mary was frightened, but Gabriel said to her: “Do not be afraid.”
Gabriel told her that she had found great favor with God and she would be blessed.
She was going to give birth to a king; the child would be the anticipated Son of God.
In humble belief, Mary responded: “I am your servant.”
